What advisory covers
Anything that isn’t “just file a return”. Specific decisions where India’s tax code, Switzerland’s, India-Swiss DTAA, FEMA, and your personal timeline all need to sit in the same room.
We see the same handful of cases weekly:
- Buying a flat, in either country. Mortgage interest on Indian loans, § 54 relief on Indian sales, imputed rental valueImputed rental valuedeEigenmietwertfrValeur locativeitValore locativo on Swiss property, TDS at 20% on sale.
- RSU vesting or a PMS liquidity event. Sequencing sales so gains land in the lower jurisdiction, and the DTAA credit reconciles the year they do.
- Moving back to India. The 2–3 year RNOR window is a one-shot cushion. We map it out call by call — what to sell before, what to hold, when to close each account.
- Company setup or self-employment in Switzerland. GmbH vs AG vs sole prop, VAT threshold, split with India revenue.
- Life events. Cross-border marriage, OCI for children born abroad, inheritance from Indian parents, a Swiss will next to an Indian one.
- A second opinion before you sign — a mortgage, a term sheet, an employment offer, a lease.
Two rates. Same team.
Advisory is priced by the hour so a five-minute question stays cheap and a long decision doesn’t get rushed. Which rate applies depends on the specialist you need.
Tax advisory (IN), CHF 50 / hour. If the question is entirely on the India side, we route it to a Chartered Accountant who works only on NRIs. ITR nuance, Schedule FA, TDS reclaim, NRE / NRO mechanics, capital gains on Indian assets. India in, India out.
General Advisory — CHF 250 / hour. For anything Swiss, or where the two jurisdictions touch. FederalFederal taxdeDirekte BundessteuerfrImpôt fédéral directitImposta federale diretta and cantonal taxCantonal taxdeKantonssteuerfrImpôt cantonalitImposta cantonale, India-Swiss DTAA progression, company setup in Switzerland, cross-border investment structuring, transitions like return-to-India. Higher rate because the specialist is a Swiss tax advisor with cross-border experience — the person most banks and law firms send you to.
If you’re not sure which rate applies, book General Advisory. If it turns out to be an India-only question, we route it and bill you at the lower rate.
